Village Northwest Unlimited is proud to celebrate the induction of two of our residents, Janet Grooters and Keith Krumm, into the Special Olympics Iowa Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor recognizes their outstanding achievements, sportsmanship, and dedication to the spirit of the Special Olympics.
Janet Grooters, a long-time member of the Village Northwest Unlimited Panthers, has participated in Special Olympics for over 10 years, competing in bowling, track and field, soccer, basketball, and softball. Janet’s unwavering encouragement and sportsmanship leave a lasting impact on her teammates and coaches. Known for embodying the Special Olympics athlete oath, Janet’s determination and positivity have shined brightly in every event. Though retired from competition, she remains an enthusiastic supporter, cheering on other Panther athletes and serving as an inspiring role model.
Keith Krumm, who began competing in 1988, continues to excel in volleyball, bowling, and track and field. Keith’s infectious energy, enthusiasm for sports, and outstanding sportsmanship have made him a cherished figure within the Special Olympics community. His passion for competition and his habit of celebrating every medal and ribbon inspires everyone around him. Keith’s nominators commended his personality and joy, which leave a lasting mark on those who meet him.
Janet and Keith exemplify the true spirit of Special Olympics, inspiring their peers, coaches, and community through their dedication, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm. Their induction into the Hall of Fame is a well-deserved recognition of their remarkable contributions. Both Janet and Keith remind us all of the incredible impact individuals can have on their communities when they lead with kindness, determination, and heart.
