Food Service Cook

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with food preparation, cooking and serving, Preference will be given to applicants who have previously cooked for large groups.  Individual must be familiar with proper food handling techniques and procedures to ensure quality standards are met.  Strong verbal communication skills, along with mathematical aptitude are required.

PURPOSE:

Cook foodstuffs according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions and number of portions to be served.   Ensure that food is served in a manner that meets all food safe handling requirement and standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and maintain a positive personal relationship with consumers.
  2. Prepare and cook food to be served to consumers and staff at the Summit for the noon meal.
  3. Communicate with supervisor regarding inventory of food, supplies and equipment.
  4. Maintain records regarding food safety
  5. Perform task as assigned by supervisor
  6. Maintain regular attendance

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Lifting:          10-50 pounds,

Standing:      Due to the range of activities that are required, the ability to stand on cement floors for several hours at a time.

Other Requirements:    Bending, twisting, pulling, pushing carts and wheelchairs, walking individuals served with a gait belt, could be exposed to limited chemicals.

Visual/Auditory requirements: Ability to adequately interact with staff and consumers.
