“Behind every successful organization is a talented employee”

“If I sang the praises of your hard work, I would lose my voice pretty quickly”

                These are just a few quotes that come to mind when I think about the staff at Village Northwest Unlimited.  When I was first considering joining VNU’s 50th Anniversary Committee, I was a little apprehensive, as it was a new committee.  Barry stopped me in the hall one day and said “It will be a year of celebrating staff and residents both past and present”.  I thought about that phrase for a few days and ultimately decided “You know what, the staff and residents at VNU are pretty amazing, and if I can join a committee that recognizes that I’m all in!”

                Shortly after that day in the hall, I found myself sitting in my first 50th Anniversary Committee meeting, talking with new and tenured staff about the amazing and monumental things throughout VNU’s first 50 years.  Listening to some of the stories would almost bring tears to my eyes and almost all stories ended in a smile or a laugh.  One of the first things we talked about was how we could “treat” everyone (staff and residents) to a fun, celebration party.  Ultimately, we decided on a pizza party and a cookie party!  So, throughout the year each house and department will be receiving 50th Anniversary cookies and pizza parties to celebrate the past, present, and future!
