Village Northwest Unlimited is committed to meeting our Vision of “Building successful lives through opportunities and choices.” Residents who take part in our day program have the opportunity to choose the activities they wish to be involved in each day. Those who attend day programming at the Summit have 71 different activities or curriculums they can choose from. They can learn to cook using a Wok, discover the challenge of playing Frisbee golf, or spend time volunteering at a local non-profit. 54 different options are available to the individuals who participate in day programming at the Wansink Center. These individuals have the opportunity to create a masterpiece doing diamond art, or take a virtual vacation to Europe, or study scripture in a personalized Bible study. In total, more than 125 activities or curriculums are available for the individuals served at VNU to choose from each week. Since day programing was introduced, more than 500 curriculums have been developed with the offerings continuing to grow.
The day program at VNU offers individuals the opportunity to pursue their passions, explore their community, and develop their skills for living. Through their participation in day programing the individuals served at VNU are growing in their independence and becoming more engaged in their community. Nearly 60 employees are dedicated to making the day programming experience at VNU the most empowering and fulfilling experience possible. Speech, physical, and occupational therapies are also part of our day program, meaning that participants receive the support they need to thrive physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. The day program unlocks a world of possibilities for those served, thanks to the opportunities and choices available to them.
