Director of Development

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must possess outstanding positive, professional, interpersonal skills for working with constituents, consumers and their families, and co-workers.  Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak to groups of people. Supportive of the mission and values of Village Northwest Unlimited.   The position requires excellent organizational skills, and the ability to produce high quality work with little supervision.  Competency with computers, preferably Crescendo software.  Knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising principles are highly desirable.  A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration or a related field and a minimum of 3 years experience in fundraising, or a combination of education and experience applicable to this position.  This position requires travel and requires a valid driver’s license.

PURPOSE:  Promote the advancement of Village Northwest Unlimited by managing the agency’s fundraising efforts and coordinating the marketing, communications and public relations programs.

 JOB  RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Meet prospective and current donors on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.

2.Direct major gifts and planned giving program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.

3.Direct capital campaigns and other fundraising drives.

4.Direct annual fund program.

5.Direct corporate, foundation and grant programs including proposal, report writing and acknowledgement.

6.Work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors and other volunteers in development activities.

7.Coordinate and manage fundraising events.

8.Oversee fundraising databases and donor acknowledgments.

9.Work to increase the overall visibility of VNU through publications and other communication efforts.
